Not an NFHS sport; girls' high-school rugby runs through state rugby organisations and club structures. NFHS Activities & Sports

College

Women's rugby is an NCAA Emerging Sport for Women, not yet a full championship sport, and does not appear in the NCAA championship future-dates schedule. Thirty institutions sponsor it as an Emerging Sport, playing championship 15s in the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association and National Collegiate Rugby; the sport needs 40 sponsoring programmes to be considered for full championship status. Olympic and major games

15-a-side is not on the LA28 Olympic programme; only Rugby Sevens is. The women's pinnacle is the Rugby World Cup. LA28 Games Plan

Club, youth and academy

Southern-Hemisphere women's club competitions run in the Southern autumn and winter, with Super W and Super Rugby Aupiki grand finals in July 2026, alongside the Europe Championship 7s final leg in Split in late July, Japan's Taiyo Seimei 7s round 3 in late July and a USA U20 women's tour to South Africa. Northern-Hemisphere club rugby runs through winter into spring, for example the Celtic Challenge from early January and Ireland's Energia All-Ireland League into late April. U.S. college preseason is late August.
